Korshak Bagels, located at 1700 S. 10th St., shut its doors for the very last time on Sunday, Sept. 24.

Korshak's has been a popular bagel shop in the community for nearly three years, and rarely was without a line out the door.

Its bagels weren't typical: Think chimichurri slaw and ham on rye, and Pastrami, or carrots and beets pickled in this cardamom, mustard seed, black pepper brine.

"It’s not a New York bagel. It’s not a Montreal bagel," its website reads. "It’s a Korshak Bagel, made right here in South Philly."

Korshak's was run by Phil Korshak, who wore his bushy beard long with a beanie or a baseball cap. He made the place what it was.

"Korshak Bagels is a place where you go and meet the friend you have not yet met," he writes. "Our walls, literal and metaphorical, offer a place of safety, acceptance, and celebration.

"We align with other like minded businesses to educate and celebrate the work of making food the right way, with love and respect. Korshak Bagels connects those who care."

It did.

"You are a saint and bard and bagelmonger of the finest stuff, and Philly was lucky to know how good a bagel can be for these last 2.5 years," one person commented on Instagram. "Really nothing compares 2 U. Cheers to what’s next, friend. ❤️🔥"

Another said: "The rain this weekend are tears from everyone that was able to enjoy your bagels ❤️"
